Located in the student village on the Lower Campus, “Lower Live” is one of the University’s busiest dining halls. Occupying the ground floor of Corcoran Commons, a facility that opened in 1994, the 6,654-square-foot dining area features a fireplace and seating for 550. Located on the second floor of the building are The Balcony @ Addie's, a fast-service eatery, and function rooms for University events.
Some 6,500 customers eat in Corcoran Commons each day. The dining hall is open 50 weeks of the year, from 6:30 a.m. to midnight on most days, and until 2 a.m. on weekends. On a typical day, the 2,881-square-foot kitchen is staffed by 65 workers and 40 students who prepare 500 pounds of chicken, 125 pounds of hamburger, 250 pounds of tomatoes, 75 gallons of milk, 30 pounds of eggs, 80 pounds of bacon, 200 pounds of potatoes, and 250 cheese steak subs.
Lower Live is one of nine dining locations on the Heights, all managed by Boston College’s dining services, which was awarded the 2004 Silver Plate Award for Service Operator of the Year and the 2003 Employer of Choice Award.
