Walk on

Featured Photo

To call attention to the scarcity of clean water in the developing world, where nearly a billion people lack a potable source, a group of Boston College freshmen are walking from their residence halls on the Newton Campus to the Chestnut Hill Campus, a two-mile trek they usually make on the University’s shuttle busses. BC Walk for Water is taking place daily February 14–25. In that time, the students hope to raise $2,500 for construction of a rain catchment system and hand washing stations at the Longa Secondary School in Tanzania. The University’s Volunteer and Service Learning Center is serving as a sponsor of the event.

At 9 a.m. on February 14, a group leaves the Cushing-Hardy parking lot, led by organizer Chris Olmanson ’14 (holding banner).
